4 FREE Holiday Bonus Recipes with Preorder!

At the start of 2012, my book was just an open word document. Here I am now, mid-December a few years later, looking at the calendar knowing that in mere weeks, on January 6th, it’ll be out in the world. Published.

In a way it feels like my lifelong journal is about to be leaked.

Two Mondays ago, I turned in the manuscript on my second book. Second. One hell of a mess-creating, dishwasher-less, delicious-doesn’t-even-describe-it cookbook.

It Was Me All Along by Andie Mitchell

Last Friday, I got the hardcover of my memoir in the mail. It was the first time I’d held it, the first time I knew what color the back of the jacket would be, the first time I saw my little author photo and bio, the first time I could open to the dedication page, the acknowledgements, the first time I really knew what it will look like standing there on the shelves of Barnes & Noble, Target, and other bookstores. What a moment. What a wild, wild, weeping moment.

It’s a happy, emotional season around here.

This book — the memoir — is one of the greatest journeys of my life, and I’m so excited for you to read it. Does excited even do justice to what I feel when I think about you reading it? I don’t know. I guess I just think you’ll be able to relate in some way — that you’ll find something in it that feels true to you, wherever you are on your way.

In it, you’ll find at least a bit of all the things we talk about when it comes to struggling with food, weight, and body image — and much, much more. If any of what I’ve written so far has resonated with you, the book absolutely will, too.

As an added perk and a thank you to all who have already ordered the book, if you pre-order It Was Me All Along before January 6th, you will receive 4 FREE bonus holiday recipes that I created exclusively for you! These recipes are warming, wintery, and wholesome — and will be perfect for starting a healthy and happy New Year. (Well, 3 are healthy and one is a more decadent dessert. You know I don’t undercut decadence.) It’s super simple to get the recipes:

1. Preorder It Was Me All Along from your favorite retailer: Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target, Indiebound, iBooks
2. Copy the purchase order/transaction number from your receipt and paste it on this form, fill in your info, and hit ‘submit.’

Thank you, thank you, thank you, to everyone who orders the book — and all who have already ordered it (remember that you can still get the recipes by filling out this form!).

I say it all the time, but it just never stops being true — you mean more to me than you can imagine.

[The next installment of the Moving Away from Binge Eating series, if you’ve read it and are following along, is coming Monday!]

    Andie,

Yesterday, I was reading Marie Claire and was absolutely delighted to see your article! Congratulations on the book. You have such an amazing way of expressing your relationship with food, and reading your words helps people more than you will ever know. I’m so glad that you’re getting these wonderful opportunities. You deserve it. Have a great holiday season, and all the very best for the new year. :)

    Andrea,

I will never be able to tell you enough how very proud of you I am. When I read your book you brought me back to our bittersweet past. It is so hard to imagine that a little girl saw and took in so much. You remembered so much and were so observant to all that was going on, more so than I who was living in my own fantasy world. You are my inspiration, everything I could ever ask for in a daughter and my best friend. Dad would have been so proud (despite the sadness) of everything you are and strive for. I love you beyond words, EVER EVER OVER!!!!!!!!!!

I love your recipes, and I keep checking back here but I feel like I haven’t seen a recipe post in a long time. I know you have been busy with your books, so I just wanted to check if we could expect to see some recipe posts in the New Year :)

    Thanks!

I just “discovered you” through a long rabbit trail (Instagram–>Amazon–>TED talk–>website) and what you write/say makes me cry, laugh, nod. I feel like we are sisters from another mother and if in the busy-ness of life I don’t have time to properly send you a letter/email I just want to say a quick thank you here: thank you for your vulnerability and for celebrating food, which so few people who break bad habits and control issues are capable of doing. I’m an ex-anorexic/obsessive exerciser/binge eater (depending on the season) but in the past ten years became obsessed with cooking and it saved me. Will definitely be ordering this book and giving to people I know!!

I feel like, for as many years — years! — as I’ve been following your blog, it’s followed me too.

We’ve gone on a journey together, you and I, through my life and then what I’ve been told of your life. You didn’t even know it Andie! Do you remember when I commented last time and you responded to my email? You might not, but I certainly did… I still have it saved!

I don’t necessarily need to lose weight, but I do love to cook. It’s that passion that was ignited by your blog, and is consistently fueled by it. As stupid as it sounds, I can name the major events in my life by some of your recipes: First meal in my own apartment — Petite Lasagnas. Accepted into college — Tie-dye cupcakes. Meal I made for my dear friend before joining the army — Pappardelle with Riccotta, Mint, and Lemon. Goodness knows how many more there are.

I’ve since made my own food adventure, with what you started me with. I hardly use recipes anymore! However, you’ve definitely got your share of more detail-oriented “story time” blog posts. I like that. They’re nice. But when I do need a recipe, and/or a new idea on food, you can bet where I come.

Seeing your relationship with food has shaped my relationship with myself for the better.

    Thank you Andie.

    Regards,
    Silas B.

P.S. OF COURSE I pre-ordered your book! One of these days, if/when you decide to go out book signing somewhere close, I’m going to BE there, you bet. :D

Congratulations Andie, can’t wait to see the book for myself. Love having this insider knowledge, it’s so much more than a simple book on a bookstore shelf this way. I feel like jumping up and down saying, “Oh my goodness, I KNOW HER! I KNOW HER!” but you know, that’d be a bit weird. Right? :)

Happy holidays dear, to everyone reading as well.

Preordered your book along with all my other Christmas presents on Amazon. I’m more excited about it than getting presents :) Can’t wait to receive it in real life! Merry Christmas Andie!
