Friends,
One of my very favorite people in the world, Camille, has begun writing. You might remember her from our months-long adventure earlier this year in Costa Rica, Mexico, and Belize. Well, her new blog, This American Girl, paints her life through travel, culture, food, and most preciously–the lessons learned along the way. It’s brilliant and beautiful, just as she is. Her recent post, “On Being Alone,” speaks to me on so many levels that I couldn’t help but share it. I hope you’ll give it a read.
All the good things,
Andie
PS- I often ask people the following question, because I thought about it for many years before I started my own blog, so I’ll pose it to you: If you were to start a blog of your own, what would you write about? What would the focus be?
I just started my own blog and it is all about my struggle to lose weight, law school, my love of baking and all things unhealthy and how to balance everything. Yours is a true inspiration!
I’ve started to try! I’m spending a year abroad and the blog is a mish-mash of budget tips for living in Oxford, writing about the work I’m doing, and pictures around the city.
I did too, my blog is a storytellers blog full of fairytales for kids and grown-ups alike. I video new tales twice a week. Both Tarot and Fairytales. It has been a lot of fun and very exciting the people I have been meeting and what I have been learning.
Ohhhhh food. Of course I blog about food. And my funny little monsters. And all of the things I find weird/annoying with the world… like line jumpers.
If I were to do a blog, it would be a place to chat about anything and everything. Just a place where if someone had a problem they couldn’t talk to people they know, they could come there and get a variety of responses from everyday people. Or if someone found a really good recipe, sale, new food, etc. they could let everyone know. I guess it would just be a conversation place with strangers…:)
Nice!
My blog has been up and running for a couple of weeks – it’s about healthy living and maintaining my recent 70 lb weight loss and of course my biggest passion, cooking!
I’d like to start another DIY blog sometime in the future though =)
I started a little blog a year ago and I am loving it so much I am building a fancy new website that will better reflect who I am. It is about traveling in Oregon because one of things that makes me happiest is being active outside, in my home state, in nature because it feeds my soul.
I wish I had the time to start a blog about parent’s food choices for their children. As someone who owns a couple of preschools in addition to many other businesses I am shocked at the poison that parents feed their children. Donuts, Pizza, McDonalds’s, Doritos chips, Red40 Milk shakes.
The blog would focus on how to make great health meals, how to shop for healthy non GMO food, packing great school lunches, how to cook fast and healthy, Bento boxes, breakfast taboos, analyzing consequences of bad food choices, common mistakes parents make, avoiding supermarket blackmail by the kids, leading by example, spicing for healthier fast meals, handling food peer pressure, educating grandmas who give bad food, and so much more.
Funny you ask – I don’t blog but I read a lot of food blogs and all I really want is a reliable blogger who blogs pretty much everday Monday through Friday and gives me a 5 – 10 minute escape from work… I am sad when of the 10-15 blogs I read nobody has a new post…
Hi Andie! This is my first time commenting. It is so awesome that you brought this up since I have been meaning to ask you about your own blog and whether you write code yourself, how you got your domain, who hosts your site, or if you use word press or another software, etc? Can you write a post about how you got started with the actual webmaster part and how you keep it up. I teach online and have started several google sites, etc but have started researching having a “real” site but there are so many options that it is confusing! Perhaps you and Camille can do a joint post with suggestions of what worked and didn’t? If I started a personal site I might post on my love of home renovation, my struggle with weight loss, time management, pop culture, my pug :) you are so inspiring already and great with words! But thanks for asking for our ideas.
I love the personal fulfillment writing has given me! I started my blog during my pregnancy and enjoy writing about motherhood while maintaining balance (with my career, friends, family and myself)
I have started and ended countless blogs with various topics. If I would start blog now, it would be about happiness. Everyday happiness, motivation, how to change the world to be better place, changing your own thoughts to be more positive, enjoying life. Those thoughts I would want to spread to others.
I would write about life and how to make the most of it. I would quote Marcus Aurelius and random song lyrics and post lots of snapshots.
“Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking.”
Marcus Aurelius
I’m looking forward to reading more of your blog and recipes!
