Weekly Coffee Date

Mint Green Front Door with Gold Hardware - photo by Crin

Happy Monday, friends! Daniel and I have been in Massachusetts for just over a week and we’ve been to 3 open houses. This house hunting thing is no joke. It’s scary and stressful—and is it impossible not to get your heart set on one that’s out of your budget? Feels like it. We’re looking at houses in about 4 or 5 sweet little towns near where I grew up, with rural, winding roads and town centers that close down at 9 or 10pm. I’m looking for Stars Hollow, basically. I’ll keep you posted when I find it ;)

What’s new with you?

Oh, house hunting…such an adventure! My hubs and I bought our first home in January and just moved in. It’s a bit of a work in progress, but it’s so amazing. It will be perfect for our baby that’s due to arrive in 2 months!

Stop looking at houses outside of your budget!! Lol. I know, I know. But really, you’re only hurting yourself. ;) Oh, and pro tip: Once you’ve officially purchased a house, stop looking at the listings! Inevitably, it seems, that’s when a “better” house will come along. When you find your Stars Hollow, could you make one appear in MI, too?? :) We’re just starting the next step up house talks here since we’ve been in our “starter” home for 7 years this May. Not what we planned, but it just makes the most financial sense for us right now.

Which kind of ties into your reads of the week, according to the headlines. Looks like I’ve got some reading to do! :)

House hunting is a lot like looking for the perfect mate. Is this the Right One? How can I know for sure? Can I live with the faults or is this flaw a deal-breaker? How much can I change?
Ultimately you hope for that inner-confirmation where something just feels right and you have the confidence to go for it.

I’m happy to hear you’re moving back to MA!! I live in Plainville, it’s near Foxboro. Lovely little town! Not quite Star’s Hollow though ;) A friend was just saying how nice Sherborn is.

Best of luck with the house hunt! Hope to someday, run into you :)

I am super stressed about having to find a new apartment this summer, looking for a whole house sounds like a nightmare! My brother lives in Chelmsford which is a very cute town with a very cute town square and a brand new Whole Foods. If I wasn’t still in love with NYC I would consider that town.
