What I Love This Week

We spent every day outside this past week, playing during the day and grilling every night, and it was wonderful. I put a big blanket down on the grass in our backyard in the afternoons and we play/have a picnic, or we go to this nearby nature preserve and hike (very loose definition there). James may enjoy eating tulips, grass, and all of the bubbles we blow, but that vitamin D is worth it. Now I want to buy a small kiddie pool…maybe an inflatable one so that the sides have some cushioning (as opposed to a more rigid plastic)? If you have one that you like, I’d love your recommendations!

Leaked Records Reveal Tony Robbins Berated Abuse Victims, And Former Followers Accuse Him Of Sexual Advances
I think Tony Robbins has a lot of valid, effective advice for self-improvement and I won’t deny that he’s a charismatic, effective speaker, but after watching the documentary about him, I Am Not Your Guru, a few years ago, I came away with this uncomfortable feeling that part of his schtick is exploiting the pain of those who attend his workshops. Daniel felt the same way, but when I talked to people about the movie, I got the sense that most people walked away with a more positive view of Robbins. This article is interesting and disturbing, but I imagine there’s more to the story than what we read here.

What to Watch After Game of Thrones Ends
Like pretty much everyone, I’m very sad about the rush job on this final season of GOT. Still, I’ll miss it like crazy when it’s over (tonight).

Dead to Me
Everything about this dark comedy is great—from the tone and pacing to the cast. I love Linda Cardellini (Freaks and Geeks forever). Here’s the scoop: A hotheaded widow searching for the hit-and-run driver who mowed down her husband befriends an eccentric optimist who isn’t quite what she seems.

I wish Dead to Me was more than 10 episodes…I’m done now and I’m sad! What a great show…always a twist or turn…
