Let’s say, purely for instance, that you decide to write a book.
Let’s note that one very large, oh so very in charge, publishing house contacts you because they’d like, well, they must, be a part of it.
Let’s also say, again for instance, that the book then goes to auction with 20 eager publishers and you have, oh I don’t know, let’s just say, fifteen, hour-long phone conversations with the wonderful editor, marketing director, and publicity manager for each publishing house.
But let us also pause to note that you wonder, soberingly often, what in the world would possibly make you fancy yourself as the book writing kind.
Still pausing.
And almost done pausing.
Nope, just a second more.
And then let’s say you receive bids that make you feel slightly less guilty about your absorbing Starbucks habit.
Let’s say you get past that after a month of night sweats.
And then let’s go a step farther and say that you choose a publisher that just sets your world right side up. Makes you dance inside and out.
Sunny-sides your egg, if you’ll indulge me here.
If and when all of said instances occur within one very short and ultra terrifying-meets-whatever-titillating-means month….
Your dearest friends will make you a pie.
And not just any pie.
They’ll probably make a massive bowl of your most wildly loved chocolate chip cookie dough, heavy on the chocolate chunks and light on the notion of moderation.
They’ll pat that browned butter and caramel dough into their truest pie plate.
They’ll bake her until her edges tan golden and her middle begs to be left soft and chewy.
And then
then they’ll frost the top and find edible pens somewhere in the fully stocked aisles of heaven, and they’ll draw a likeness of your being.
The closest representation to you they can possibly conjure.
Maybe it’ll be a portrait.
A caricature, even.
But mine?
Mine is Wonder Woman meets Power Puff Girl.
…
No picture of me has made more sense.
No photo captures me so purely, so loving and uniquely.
The Chewiest Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Recipe

By all means, post about the process because I’m really interested to hear/learn about it. Again, congratulations – you’re amazing! :)

ummmmmm
YES

Congrats on being part of something some of us can only dream of. I would LOVE to see posts about the process, I think it would be fascinating!
I’m so excited for you! Would definitely hear about the entire process!
Please share the process! I think one reason we all blog is because we love writing (oh, and food) and hope to be published one day!
I’m trying to get into the bookwriting game myself so any thoughts/musings/rants/ravings about writing one would be stellar. Interspersed with some bangin’ recipes of course. ;)
Honestly, I would read anything you write. I feel about your blog the way I think I’ll feel about my own child someday: I am so happy to watch you grow that I’m ecstatic just to be a witness. Whatever you write, my dear, I will read!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Can I pre-order it yet? I’m so freaking excited for you!!!
Congratulations!
I think a mixture of both would be perfect.
I’d be happy with some post about the book. I’ve only ever known about and then purchased cookbooks after their publishing. I’ve never seen one evolve from the get-go like this before, so it’s a very unique experience that we’re all priveledged to share with you along the way.
I’d love all the juicy details–is there a publishing date in sight yet? Hardcover? Softcover? Did your mother faint when you told her? Did Daniel? Did YOU?
I’m not sure I’ve ever been this excited about a cookbook before. I’ve actually stopped buying them because I have way too many, so these days I’ll only buy one when it’s something I just HAVE to have. Yeah…suffice to say, I haven’t bought a cookbook in about two years. But this one…ho ho ho…I am BUYING.
So where is this cookie cake recipe? I need it bad!
SO cute!! So happy for you. That pie looks amazing!
Still so incredibly happy and excited for you, Andie! I’ll drink an iced coffee in your honor today.
I’d read either way Princess Power Puff Woman.:) Congrats! And definitely let me know when I can buy a million copies of your book and give them as gifts to every single person I know.

Your friends seem wonderful :] & Cookie Cake is the jam
I’d love to read about your book writing experience. Yours is one of the few blogs that I can appreciate each and every post – not just the photos of edible things.
Yay! Congrats Andie and yes I love reading what you write- book process included. :)
So excited for you! So, I would love to know more about the book writing process…how you came up with the idea, how you pitched it…..all of it! So freakin cute that cake! Sooo proud of you! You’ve inspired me in my blog writing (and maybe even a book..though I’m not quite sure of that one yet lol)
B :)
I need both, please. Thankyouverymuch.
That cookie pie looks fabulous! I am super excited for your book. What is it going to be about, anyways? Your life and cooking?
Congratulations, Andie. I’m so excited for you! Ever since the magazine piece (where I coincidentally began reading your blog) I’ve been waiting to hear about a book. Your writing is a pleasure to read – as are your recipes. Please keep us posted about the process of writing the book, in the wonderful way that you do.
In my ‘real life’ I’m a coach and have been working with a new author for over a year on getting her first book written. Its a journey that’s come with much joy and not a little pain. I hope your book adventure is full of lots of fun and excitement. And having a publisher before you begin says so much about your talent.
I want it all! I’m so excited to hear more about this amazing opportunity!
I would love to see posts about the writing process. I think it would be very fascinating.
Chew and screw?
That’s fantastic! Congrats Andie!

Congrats on the everything, even more so for having super fantastico friends. I don’t know anyone who would make me a one of those.
I would love to hear about the process too- sounds interesting!
I’m so excited for you I just did the snoopy “happy dance” in my cubicle for you! I want to hear everything! First off, though, what KIND of book will this be? Will it be more of you, like you are here, or is it a cook book or???? So pleased for you! BC
CONGRATS on writing a book, I can’t wait to read it! I would love to hear more about the book writing process as it is always something I’ve sort of dreamed of doing.
I’d absolutely love to hear updates on the book writing process. Bring them on! Congrats, congrats, and congrats again. You more than deserve it and I know this book will be one I’ll be scouring the shelves for as soon as its hits them…no matter WHAT it’s about!
Congrats on the book! I can’t wait to hear about the process and then read the finished copy. Will there be recipes in the book? I know you’ll find a way to share the writing and the food together in great company on your blog. I’m looking forward to the process!
Both please! Delicious posts and updates!
I personally would love to hear about the publishing process, but more importantly, I want you to remember that this is YOUR space. I feel like a lot of bloggers who get book deals end up getting so wrapped up in adhering to the topics that made them “successful” that they end up becoming really one-dimensional. Write about whatever tickles your fancy and your readers will stay with you…we may come for dinner, but we stay for your wise and beautiful words ;-) And as for those who are just here for the food porn…I’m they’re very much appreciated, but don’t let them define your blog.
Word(s).
Oh MY GOODNESS Andy! Congrats girl you so deserve it! Please know how lucky you are too, lets just say your experience in the book writing arena has gone MUCH differently than mine! I did it sort of backwards: wrote an almost 500 page novel because it was a book I would want to read, and now have to try to find ANY publisher to well, publish it!
I cannot wait to read your book, enjoy the whole process and all that Starbucks you earned. ;)
AAANNNDDD I did not spell your name correctly, which is perfectly ironically perfect because it explains my problem with editing my own work: my brain works too fast and I miss the mistakes. Your much better at self editing! :D
I want to hear about the book too. I’m looking forward to reading it.
Your book is going to be fanstastic!!
We would LOVE to hear about the book writing process! I’m so happy for you. I’ve loved your site for a LONG time :D
I for one would love to hear all about your book writing process!! I am so beyond thrilled for you!!!
Love the cookie pie…you have some wonderful (and talented) friends!
Much love my dear…this is such an exciting new chapter of your journey! xoxo
I love cookie pies and the fact that you’re writing a book :) Congratulations, that’s so exciting!
Congrats to you! You just write about whatever you want little missy and I’ll read it! :)
Bring on the book writing posts!
I’m so excited for you!! The cookie pie looks amazing! It’s literally making my mouth water!! haha
Hi Andie,
I just found your blog today and think it’s wonderful. Your writing is so compelling, I’m not surprised you got a book deal. I’d love to hear about the writing process–please share.
Thanks for being so honest about your journey–I really appreciate that.
Wow, so SO happy for you!! And sounds like you have some incredible, supportive friends. Can’t wait to buy this book :) What’s the timeline?
All of the above please! :)
It would be fun to read about the publishing process, but keep writing about food! That is why I love this site– so many good food ideas!
Of course you are the writing kind Andie!
You have a voice that is begging to be set down in print and worshipped as the words caress our brains. I can’t wait to read it and your friends obviously know just how wonderful it will be too.
Not everyone gets chocolate chip cookie pie and a caricature :)
Congratulations! I can’t wait to hear more about your adventures – the character is just perfect for you! :)
Give me both! I’d love to hear whatever you’d like to share about the book writing, as long as there are still yum-yums. :p
And good God, woman, CONGRATULATIONS!
I work in publishing so I would love to hear about this process from your point of view. And your yummy food. And crazy goings-on in Seattle.
So excited for you! An Auction and world rights is great!
Annnndiiiiieeee! I can’t believe I just saw this post! CONGRATULATIONS! That is so awesome. What is your book going to be about? I would love for you to share the entire process, “cover to cover,” so to speak :) Again, so happy for you. You eat that cookie cake, Wonder-puff Woman.
I’m so stinking happy for you! Please share the process with us. I can’t wait to read it all!
Please share! I love that you are writing a book; can’t wait to read it!!
So excited for you.
Love the likeness, too cute.
GASP! How did I miss this post!? This is so incredibly exciting and I can’t wait to hear more about it (and make everyone that I know buy the book when it comes out)! Congrats, my friend!
I can’t wait to try making these cookies when my friends come into town in a few days! And the happiest of birthdays to your mom! Andie, please keep us updated on the book, I can’t wait to read it.
Not sure if I simply missed it, but how long do you bake the cookie dough if you are making the pie version?
Stories from the publishing world = yes.
Continuing on with the recipes = also yes.
Mix ’em up. A little of both, please :)
I’d love to hear how the book is going! EEEEEEE!
Can’t wait to read the book! Congratulations!!! I LOVE this blog and find it so inspiring. Thank you.
Congratulations!!!!!
