I’m partnering with Amazon to share a list of my healthy New Year’s resolutions over on their site!
Happy New Year, friends! It always feels good to start fresh, doesn’t it? I love making resolutions and setting goals. It leaves me inspired and optimistic.
At the beginning of December, I started making a list of all the big plans I have for 2017—a wedding in September, getting in shape for that wedding (Daniel asked me how many push-ups I could do, so I tried, and…let’s just say we’ve got a lot of work to do between now and September), buying a house in the spring, working on a third book…
To guide me as I move through the year and all of these big plans, I decided to set an overall intention:
Make it count
To me, “make it count” is about living mindfully, intentionally. I want to live with more purpose, to stay true to my priorities, and pause more often to enjoy the odd Tuesday, the weekends that always seem to fly by, all the meals I tend to forget I’ve eaten. In essence, I don’t want 2017 to end wondering where it went. I want to make the year count, the days count, every bite count, my relationships count, and my work count. Starting now.
As for the rest of my healthy resolutions, I’m sharing the list over on Amazon! Click here to see all 12.
Your turn—what’s your intention this year? Did you make resolutions?
This post is sponsored by Amazon.
I love the idea of “make it count” and how you can apply it to so many parts of your life. Lovely photos in your post!
Thank you, Marcy! Happy New Year!
Going through my list (I like to make a bucket list at the start of the year), I think that the main theme for mine is Togetherness. I want to focus on nurturing friendships (more impromptu spaghetti dinners with friends!), I want to help out the moms in my life, I want to volunteer my time at places that I believe in, I want to give my love and gratitude freely. I want to give as much as I can.
Oh my goodness I love your theme, Libby! Think I have to borrow it :)
I love the idea of setting “intentions”! Last year I made a commitment to start ever weekend of with a glass of bubbly. It seemed silly but it was a fun way to end a week and enjoy the weekend! This year I a making serious intentions on being a healthier me. Eating better and getting exercise to become a habit and not fmdreaded as is now. I love your list on Amazon and would suggest you out on your registry an Instant Pot! This thing is life changing!! I use mine several times a week and it is perfect for healthy meals. Can’t wait to follow you through this exciting year! Love you to the moon Andie!!
I LOVE your idea to start the weekend with bubbles!! And your goal for this year is just fabulous. I’m so enjoying seeing your Whole 30 on Instagram!
Getting an Instant Pot immediately! I’ve heard the best things!
xoxo
My intention this year is to start loving where I’m at, for everything: my weight, my cooking skills, my career, etc. I’ve spent my whole life planning for the future, and I forget to exist in the moment and just be. That’s my goal for this year, plus to start cooking more from scratch.
This is such an important intention–and one that’s so easy for me to forget. I love it! Thank you for the reminder :)
Happy New Year!
Everything you said, my lovely!
My intention word for 2017 is execute. I want to execute the ideas I keep talking about and stop making excuses.
At the same time, I want to continue to spend time with friends and make sure they all know how much I love them! Including you! Can’t wait to see you soon!!
Your post really gave me pause to stop and think. Thanks so much for that, Andie. I feel like I live in no man’s land since my husband has been in SC since July and I have been stuck still trying to sell our PA home. I think my main theme needs to be “calm” as I shuttle back and forth. I, too, am recommitting to being the healthiest me I can be. Stress eating is a real thing for me, so I think I need to focus on trying to navigate those waters. Thanks, for your words of advice…..they really do always seem to calm me! Happy 2017….it’s going to be BIG! Much love to you!!
I used to love your blog. Now, I feel like it’s about 10% Andie and the rest is advertising
Agreed! I’ve been a devoted reader for years, but now I can’t even remember the last time I saw a post that wasn’t sponsored.
Thank you, Jourdan. I’m working on more personal posts now. Wishing you a happy new year!
Thank you for letting me know, Deirdre. I’ve got some more personal posts coming that I think you might like. Happy New Year!
Hi Andie, so true what you say.
I’d add a few extra words. Make it count for yourself. Put yourself first. It sounds selfish, but here’s how I see it: you can’t give if your own glass is empty. You can inspire people by being the best version of yourself. And what greater gift is there than that?
Keep up the inspiring!
Hanro
Love that you added this little amendment, Hanro! I couldn’t agree more; it’s so important to make ourselves priorities. Thank you!! Happy New Year!
Great post…I’m very excited for your upcoming nuptials and third book!!! :)
Thank you so much, Andrea! Happy New Year! xox
I agree with DEIRDRE. I miss the old blog format about your life, your weight loss, your travels, your love, etc.
Understood. I’ll be adding more of these types of posts this year, Sheryl. Thanks for your feedback!
Dear Andie,
You are a wonderful person. I know you have many endeavors and there are all kinds of opportunities that come to you. I love the Coffee Chats, the recipes, the news about your life and family and friends. I will look at the Amazon link but it doesn’t sound like the kind of thing I will be interested in. I will still come to your site though for you.
Best Wishes,
Judy
Thank you, Judy! You’re such a kind person and I appreciate it. I hope to share more of the content you’re interested in this year!

I love the difference between setting resolutions and intentions. My resolution is to make my bed every morning with ALL the decorative throw pillows on it. I started before the new year to show how serious I was and now I am on a six day streak. 21 days earns me a pedicure..
My intention for 2017 is “create.” Last year I unburdened myself of things that were holding me back so I could get to create more. This means making more things at work rather than just being the idea person. It means continuing to shape and create my healthy lifestyle and habits. It means writing another draft of the screenplay I have been working on for a year and a half and submitting it to contests. It means creating a new home when we hopefully move into a bigger place in September. It means creating memories on my trip to Europe this spring. It means creating stronger bonds with family and friends. And there is something really big I want to create that I hope will be in production by the end of the year. …I am so excited to read how the year goes for you, Andie!
I’m like you. I think I could probably do about three push ups. By the way, when you say “push ups,” do you mean “girl” push ups or “boy” push ups? We always differentiated in gym class :) My motto for the year is “no fear, no regrets.” I hadn’t thought about it, but “no regrets” could also be applied to eating. As in, “if I eat that whole package of Oreos, I will regret it.” Thanks for the inspiration!
Congrats on so many special milestones! It should be quite a memorable year, so what a good intention to really be present and soak it all in. This year my focus is pushing through the fear and self-doubt that holds me back from accomplishing certain goals (or even attempting to accomplish them). I also tend to focus more on work than other areas of life, so more balance and mindful presence in 2017!
YES! So many times yes. Making life count right now– not what might be around the corner but in the small moments that make up our days– this is the secret to life, I think. I’m cheering on your journey to September (exciting!!). My intention for this year is to “Keep It Real… with Grace.” And with lots of time for laughter. XO to you, Andie.
My commitment is to conquer my fear! Get out of my comfort zone, feel the life! When you don’t take risks, it surely feels secure, but empty :(
