If there’s any upside to coming down with a nasty stomach flu, it’s crawling in bed at 7pm three nights in a row and binge watching Game of Thrones. I’ve tried to watch the show before—a few times actually—only to quit halfway through season 1. Daniel has always said I couldn’t stick with it because it’s a show you need to pay attention to (as opposed to the way I watch things, with a computer on my lap), but this week I restarted with, ahem, full attention and I’m hooked. There are story lines I care more and less about (Daenerys’ storyline in season 1 was one of my favorites, but in season 2 I found myself bored by it), but now that I’m in season three and have come to know and care for most of the characters, the stakes feel high for everyone. The only question I have is: does winter ever actually come?
If you watched Broadchurch, you know David Tennant as Detective Alec Hardy (and if you haven’t watched it, you must). In this new podcast, Tennant gets talking with some of the big names from TV, movies, comedy and elsewhere: Olivia Colman (honestly the reason why I listened in the first place. I love her), Jennifer Garner, Jon Hamm…to name a few.
One Nation Under Stress (HBO documentary)

Neurosurgeon and Emmy-winning CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, One Nation Under Stress examines the reasons for this historic decline. Driven primarily by an epidemic of self-inflicted deaths of despair — from drug overdose, chronic liver disease and suicide – this rise in the U.S. mortality rate can be seen as a symptom of the toxic, pervasive stress in America today.
