What I Love This Week

Our family had a pretty good week. James was feeling better by Monday and had no symptoms by Tuesday. The doctor thinks it was some kind of enterovirus and he should be fine. Yesterday we took him to auntie Rachel’s pool which is about an hour away. Daniel’s sister, Rachel has been quarantining for months so she has resumed visits with James recently. She was aware he was sick recently and was ok with him coming over. We were worried about the car ride because lately he’s been really upset in the car, even for short rides. But luckily he was calm in the car and even napped a bit which was a great surprise. The real struggle was me making it an hour without peeing, it was a photo finish on both trips. He loved the water and playing in Rachel’s “tubby.” And for me it felt so good to not feel the entire weight of my big pregnant body. Whenever I visit a pool, I desperately want one for our house, even though it might be a little impractical in New England with the shorter pool season. Those of you who do have pools, especially in New England, do you think it’s worth it?

This week was also good with our movie choices. We watched Insidious which is on Netflix and somehow we had never seen it even though I have watched dozens and dozens of horror movies in the past few years. I thought it was really good, scary scenes, good actors and great direction.

We also watched The New One, from Mike Birbiglia, which is also on Netflix. It’s a one man show/stand-up special about his reluctant foray into parenthood. It can be pretty dark at times but the humor really resonated with us as new parents. I think most parents would find it really funny.

With concerts out of the picture for the foreseeable future, Rolling Stone got the perspective from several veteran touring artists.

Increasing the time spent on social media, especially during times of negative news, takes a predictable toll on mental health.

I hope everyone is having a good start to summer. And if you live in a place that is experiencing increased Coronavirus activity, please stay safe.

Glad everyone is feeling well. Thanks for sharing as always. Truly enjoy your blog. I saw The New One on stage about 8 months ago and really enjoyed his story too. Must have really connected with you at this time of your life. Wishing you a happy and safe 4th of July. Kathy

A swimming pool is so worth it even in New England. I grew up with one and it was awesome. Friends come over all the time You will know where your children are and who their friends are. Have very good memories about having our pool.

So glad James is feeling better! Enteroviruses can be so sneaky. Sounds like you all had a lovely time at Auntie Rachel’s. I know how challenging car rides can be with little ones, so I’m glad that went smoothly. Pools are definitely a dream for many of us! I can see the appeal, especially on hot summer days. But you’re right, the New England weather can be a bit unpredictable

Sounds like a lovely (and eventful!) week—so glad James is feeling better and the pool visit went well! Totally hear you on the dream of having your own pool, there’s nothing like that weightless feeling when you’re pregnant. And yes, Insidious is such a classic, can’t believe you hadn’t seen it yet! Thanks for the rec on The New One too, adding it to our watchlist. Wishing you a smooth and comfy rest of your pregnancy!

Wow, what a coincidence – just yesterday we stumbled upon Insidious too! We rarely agree on horror flicks, but this one truly hit the mark. The atmosphere was genuinely creepy, and the acting was top-notch. Definitely adding this to our list of must-see Papa’s games horror movies!

The New One really hit home for me, especially as a new parent. Watching it on Netflix was like getting a personal message. I was thinking about how Textideo AI Video Generator could turn my own stories into viral content, you know? Sitting in the coffee shop, I wondered if my life could be as entertaining.

The pool at Rachel’s was a lifesaver for James and me. We both enjoyed it so much, even though I barely made it an hour without needing a bathroom. Watching Insidious on Netflix was also a treat, it was so scary and well-acted. Makes me wonder if we should get a pool too, even if it’s a bit impractical.

James was so happy in Rachel’s tubby, and I couldn’t believe he napped in the car. It’s like a little AI Game Generator for our fun moments. I was thinking about this while sipping coffee, wondering if we should get a pool too. Isn’t it amazing how a simple trip can change your mood?
