Weekly Coffee Date

Wedding Heels

Hi friends! I’m kicking off the week with some GREAT news—I finally found my wedding dress! I know I know, we’re just over a month out from the wedding—what was I thinking waiting so long?! I am the worst. But it’s gorgeous and I couldn’t be happier with it. Plus, it fits like a glove and only needs bustling as far as alterations go. For any brides-to-be in Massachusetts, I’d highly recommend Vows in Watertown for dresses. In addition to my dress, we also found my mom’s dress, and gah it’s just gorgeous. What a week! Now, onto shoes and jewelry…

What did your dress look like? Was the style what you imagined it would be or did you end up liking something completely different?

I live in the UK and got a dress from a British designer called Sassi Holford – it had a Peter pan collar and I just fell in love! I even got it shortened to tea length because I’m too clumsy for a long dress and it was just the best, especially for dancing.

Anyway, that was 2 years ago and I’m still addicted to reruns of I found the Gown on TLC which is set at Vows! I just love that you got your dresses there! I especially loved Barb. Good luck accessory hunting!

I cannot wait to see pictures of your dressI My dress was NOTHING like what I was looking for. We got married 24 years ago on 9/24. I thought I wanted a ball gown with lots of pouf and NO lace. My dress was a mermaid style with lace from head to toe and I loved it!!!

Ohhhhh I CANNOT WAIT to see you in your gorgeous dress!!!!! I actually found my dress at a sale of previous season gowns…it was super simple yet perfect. Because it was a sale it was so cheap. This was before the time of sleeved dresses (something I really wanted) so I bought it and then had someone on etsy from another country make me lace sleeves. The morning of the wedding my older sister sewed the sleeves on and it seriously looked like it was meant to look like it did. Weddings are just so special, I cannot wait to hear and see it-please post all the photos :)

My kiddos’ school also does not give homework (we’re Montessori). Its really fantastic. Apparently though it is a bit of an adjustment once they enter high school but most the kids seem to adjust well.

congrats on finding the dress! yay!! i had a short engagement so i wasn’t exactly early on buying the dress either (okay, but not as late as you…haha :) i actually ended up going with something i totally didn’t expect — a sort of mermaid-shaped strapless with a vintage-inspired diagonal pattern. pictures never do it justice, but it looks like something out of the 1920s. i never thought i’d be able to do a mermaid shape, and thought i’d insist on some sleeves for that matter, but weight loss had helped and when i put this on i just fell in love. it’s gorgeous — wish i had more occasions to wear it!

can’t wait to see what you chose!!!
